Launched by her viral hit ‘Radio’, Genoveses’ debut album ‘I Blow Out Big Candles’ is an ode to alternative indie rock, full of lyricism laced with a call-it-out attitude and a youthful energy that pulsates through her tracks. The debut album captures a formative time in her life laid bare; bruises, cuts, guts and all. Writing amongst life between the sun and moon; at gigs, clubs and behind toilet doors, Genovese’s album encapsulates youth dalliances and emotional extremities, complimented by its DIY aesthetics and contemporary take on 90s sound.
A year after the release of the debut album, the upcoming EP, ‘A Loose Tooth and a Short Skirt’ is Genovese’s interpretation of a transitory period between two worlds. Being a slug on her own path, Genovese leans into her broad Mancunian accent and her knack for combining genre blending and emotionally charged artistry with sarcastic wit.
